Since my left upper lobectomy in Aug, 2010, there has been very little growth in the nodules in the left lower lobe or in the right lung and no mets elsewhere. I have had two four-cycle chemo treatments, one ending in Dec 2011, the other in Dec 2012, both with stability but no shrinkage Since Dec 2012, I had four CT scans, all showing no or extremely minor growth, but my June 5, 2014, CT scan report says what were separate nodules at the level of the aortic arch in January, 2013 have coalesced into a conglomerate mass which has increased in size since Dec 2013 from 22 x 41mm to 27x42mm and that there are innumerable other areas of gg opacification which have also increased in size and, in some cases, become more solid, all in the left lung.
Throughout the right lung, there are several vague small gg areas too small to measure.
The tumor in the excised left upper lobe was reported as "8.2cm, moderately differentiated, mostly BAC". I got to the surgery after a lengthy attempt to diagnose what appeared as an "infiltrate" on a routine x-ray and several scans. Prior to the lobectomy I had no symptoms and have not had since.
My question: Am I seeing a repeat of a "slow-growth" process that led to the 8.2cm tumor and, if so, what risk am I taking if I choose, at my otherwise healthy age of 78, to forego any local or systemic treatment now and just continue with scans every three months, i. e., just keep an eye on what is happening?
Thanks for getting this far in my rather long submission and for any insight you can offer.

Nanknits,
Your history sounds very much like an indolent but multifocal process. I've described my recommended approach for this, which is indeed minimalist:

Good luck.
