I have approximately 11 lung nodules with at least 2-3 being ground glass. Most are < 5 mm . Most are stable for 5 years though new nodules appeared in 2014 in the RUL. Originally thought to measure 1.4 x 1 cm, they were later downsized on subsequent scans to 0.8 x 1 cm and determined to actually consist of 3 small 4 mm lesions in close proximity to each other vs a single nodule. I did have a 1.5 cm nodule removed via VATS in 2012 that was benign. My next CT is in August. My pulmonologist said if the next CT is stable, he won't be scanning further since it's been 5 years. My question is that with all these nodules, is it possible they are all just benign or is it just a matter of time before I would be diagnosed with BAC?
Is this BAC? - 1274136

Hi gigizabuk,
Hi gigizabuk,
Both are possibilities, and it's impossible to know just because one nodule was determined to be benign, although that certainly is encouraging. Even if this does represent BAC, Dr. West's algorithm for managing such stable or slow-growing nodules suggests that follow-up scanning at increasing intervals is the best approach.
