Is it possible to be treated for lung cancer while the patient is on a ventilation machine to support breathing with a trach? We are being told by the oncologist at our medical center that the patient has to be able to breathe on her own first before they can begin giving her cancer treatment. Is this true?

Hi Cece,
Hi Cece,
Yes it's true you need to be able to breathe on your own to receive anticancer treatment. Needing to be on a ventilator suggests you are much too unstable to withstand treatment.
I'm sorry you need to ask this question
Sincerely,
Janine
