Hi sheri,
Hi sheri,
Welcome to GRACE. I'm sorry to hear about the pain you're experiencing. It is possible for an adrenal gland metastasis to cause pain, but as GRACE's Dr. Loiselle has said "With regard to her back pain, it is indeed uncommon for adrenal metastases to cause pain, unless they are very large, or invading close toward the spine or other nearby structures." - http://cancergrace.org/forums/index.php?topic=11280.msg92902#msg92902
So there is the possibility that the location, rather than size, which could be causing your problem. As Dr. Loiselle further stated:
"Adrenal lesions are often amenable to stereotactic radiosurgery, but we typically treat them when they are the only site of metastasis, or one of only a few sites of metastasis and the primary cancer is otherwise controlled. Thus, it is treatable, but I am not sure if it is the cause of the pain. Hopefully your physicians can continue to look into this thoroughly and figure out the source of the pain. In some circumstances, a "nerve block" is another option (usually performed by an anesthesiologist)."
I hope that your doctors can find a way to alleviate your pain.
