Yes, I have some issues with Dr. James Watson, who was at the cutting edge of science in the 1950s, but over the past few decades has been more known for a penchant for stirring the pot. I recall his comment in the wake of Judah Folkman's progress in anti-angiogenesis, back in 1998, when in a front-page article in the New York Times he declared that we'd see the cure for cancer within 5 years. I thought that was a rather naive and irresponsible comment for somewhat who presumably has some knowledge of biology, and history will show that his prediction was very off.
I'd say that his comments are as constructive and insightful now as they were in 1998.
