My Mom went through 4 rounds of carbo/alimta showed mixed response. A soft tissue metastasis was new but the two lung tumors shrunk. 23 mm round soft tissue mass in the right anterior chest wall is what the result read. My question is is this very uncommon in NSCLC? She is on immunotherapy first treatment was 2 weeks ago she believes it feels smaller from 2 weeks ago but not certain.

would love an answer by someone familiar as I have looked and looked but have found only 2 people with them and I don't know what a soft tissue metastases implies as far as what impairment can that have? is it better then having it on a more vital organ like the liver or other lung? I am just looking for help understanding this all

Hi teddyk,

Welcome to GRACE. I'm sorry that I missed your question and that it has remained unanswered. It is not uncommon for such metastases to occur, and it certainly is true that such a mass may be less threatening than if it were to appear in an organ such as the brain or liver.

Good luck to you and your Mom with her immunotherapy. I hope that she is one of those patients for whom it is effective for a very long time.
