Operations Director, GRACE

Hello!
A follower on our GRACE facebook page asked a question that perhaps someone here can speak to -- her question was in response to today's recently posted video - http://cancergrace.org/lung/2013/06/10/madeit-sclg-molecular-selection-of-chemo-advanced-nsclc/ - where Drs. Nate Pennell, Mary Pinder, and Jack West discuss trials presented at ASCO 2013 testing the potential value of molecular marker testing to select optimal chemo for advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Her question was - "Is this similar to what happens at Rational Therapeutics in Long Beach?" If anyone is familiar with this, perhaps they can speak to this. (I have posted a link to this forum in facebook for her to follow up with.)

Thanks!

So the answer is "yes", this is very similar to the work done by Rational Therapeutics. They use the same kinds of markers to predict the right chemo, but I'd be very skeptical about all of these approaches when the few trials that have actually tested this directly have proven to be stone cold negative.
