Dear All

Here's an interesting new development:

What are the doctors' thoughts on this - Yes, we don't want to be excited prematurely about anything new.

thanks

Please be cautious. This is is about as credible and unbiased as a mother dropping off her child at kindergarten and proudly announcing that this child will end up being president some day. It's just a marketing press release from a drug company. It's a promising avenue of research, but it's just announcing that they're going to start doing research. It's very positive sounding because it's just a puff piece, probably actually written by the public relations people for the drug company to disseminate on the internet to organizations in the business of disseminate puff piece marketing from drug companies.

I don't mean to be too harsh. But these PR pieces are only put out there to prey on the hope of people who will put too much stock in them and spread their marketing on the assumption that it actually has some value.

I don't see it as harsh but as a teaching moment, another cog in our learning the difference between fluff and reality.
I'm blown away by what I didn't know about cancer treatment 4 years ago and what I know now. And I still get anxious to here what our experts have to say about the pieces of information our Grace family find on the web.

ssflxl, I know you really meant what you said about not wanting to get excited about something before its time. It's amazing we have a place to vet our laypeople finds. Keep up the watch! :)

I think of it like learning that things in TV commercials almost never work as well as they do on TV, so you're taught that it's wise to be skeptical about being manipulated by marketing. It's really important to know that a lot of the "news" about cancer treatments is driven by marketing, whether formally or informally.

unfortunately, I have learned not to get too excited until the company actually applies for FDA approval.
