My Mom is slowly but steadily improving from her Tri- modality treatment for her dx'ed Stage 3A adeno case...all treatment ended early December 2012. Well...so far... according to her docs she is doing well with no visible signs of recurrence/metasis...she is due for her next CT on June 23rd.
She recently had blood/urine work performed and her TSH test result was a 6.42... Does this reading indicate any possible issue/possible warning of cancer related issue(s)? Apparently this test is used to test thyroid function... either a hyper or hypo state of the thyroid?
Please let us know and thank you.
I did do a search and read some old posts and I did not think those related to my questions. Hopefully I'm not repeating a question /issue that was covered before...
Does a 'high' TSH test result possibly indicate issues related to recurrence/met - 1263708

Dr. West discussed the emerging knowledge about the connection between thyroid hormone (TH) and lung cancer here: http://cancergrace.org/cancer-101/2009/09/01/thyroid-function-and-cance…
One of the points he makes is that an excess of TH seems to result in worse outcomes for cancer patients. For his patients who need to be given TH, he seeks to maintain a TSH level in the 5-10 range, and he notes that some doctors seek even higher levels. Your Mom's level is near the middle of that range, so she is somewhat hypothyroid, which is associated with better results.

I know of no association of TSH levels with recurrence rates from cancer and would not suspect a correlation.
Good luck.
