unable to swallow, - 1269257

My dad is having trouble swallowing food, pills, and sometimes liquids probably due to a bone met pressing on the lower esophagus after many rounds chemo and 1 round immunotherapy. Can someone recommend a GI Dr who can do botox injections, pneumatic dilation, or some other procedure to help with this? We are stuck in Flemington NJ. My dad's oncologist does not agree that he should get a feeding tube but a GI Dr who saw him once insists he needs this and refuses to refer him to a local intervention specialist. Strangely the specialist refuses to see Dad without her referral so we must take him elsewhere. Can you please make a recommendation? (Dad has stage 4 adenocarcinoma NSCLC).

I'm so sorry your dad is experiencing such difficult problems. To get a second opinion with someone who specializes in nsclc at a place like Memorial Sloan Kettering can help with understanding better what's available for you dad, including what options might be available for his swallowing problems. This is a good post to read to understand what's involved in 2nd opinions. http://cancergrace.org/cancer-101/2011/11/13/an-insider%E2%80%99s-guide…
