I finished my radiation and chemo.I was receiving for mid chest nodes. I started feeling
the effects on the second day..a lot difficulties swallowing, so my pain esphopegus mid chest and back pain..can't keep anything down..just bad. I know
With 30 daily treatments it has caused alot.of inflammation. I just wonder when it will
Stop...they said from what they can tell has diminished in size. They are hoping it continues. Before it can go anywhere.. hopefully this will do it. As it missed it first time with chemo after my surgery..... think this will do it... M. M

Congratulations on finishing treatment! I hope/know as well that it is what you need to move forward and leave cancer behind.
Esophagitis a is a pretty expected side effect when radiation is targeted so near. Radiation continues to be effective a month or so after treatment has ended so side effects will likely not begin to improve very rapidly after the finish. It seems that many people who have these side effects continue to have them for around a month.
There is a mixture prepared at the drug store, even in the U.S. that goes by many names including magic mouthwash. Many people have found it's numbing effects helpful. Letting your cancer center know about your symptoms is important.

You can also drink aloe vera
You can also drink aloe vera juice to help with the healing. It should subside with a few weeks to a month.
