Mixed GGO part solid ULL - 1288016

I have learned back in March that I had progression for all my nodules. I am stage 3a adenocarcinoma with predominant lepidic growth non mucinous. My GP forwarded the latest scan results to me...good news no significant growth but the 7.5mm nodule that was pure GGO is now part solid ratio of 37%... And that worries me... I also went today for an US for some liver cysts ....even thought the results by themselves are not bad....I have a sense of dread. Should I worry?

Thanks in advance fro your answers.

Hi cweisse,

Welcome to GRACE. It's good to hear that there is no significant growth, and you probably shouldn't read too much into the percentage of solid tissue in the 7.5mm nodule. That's still a pretty small nodule. In addition, many patients have liver cysts, and the lack of growth of the lung nodules tends to lead to the conclusion that those cysts don't represent cancer. I hope the ultrasound results support that conclusion.

It would be easy for me to say that you should not worry, but from personal experience I know just how difficult it is to avoid worry about everything that comes up. But though they should be checked out, each new symptom and each new scan finding is not necessarily cancer; you're just under much closer scrutiny as a result of your cancer diagnosis, and you're going to see and experience many of the same things that people without such a diagnosis also see and experience, you just may have a tendency to attribute them to the cancer.

Keeping an optimistic attitude and staying on an even keel may be goals to strive for, but everyone deals with their diagnosis in a different way and at different times. There may be instances when negative thoughts and feelings predominate, and there's no reason to feel weak or inadequate at those times. It's just a question of trying to put those thoughts behind you and move ahead.

I hope you get good results which ease your mind.
