I wondered if any of you have been taking pulsed Tarceva, along with one of the immunotherapy drugs. My husband with EGFR + muation was diagnosed with LMD in 01/25/2016. In addition to other treatments, he has been taking pulsed Tarceva. His LMD is currently stable. A second opinion doctor suggested that he take pulsed Tarceva, in addition to one of the immunotheraphy drugs. I wondered if any of you have done similar treatments or other TKI drugs with immunotheraphy drugs. Is the treatment effective for you? What are the side effects? Are the side effect durable? I would also appreciate to hear from physicians if they have any clinical experiences in using the combined drugs.
We are going to meet my husband's regular docs to talk about the proposed treatment next week. I would love to hear from your experiences and feedback before taking to them. Thank you very much.

It sounds like your husband is doing well on pulsed tarceva. You'd be hard pressed to find any lung cancer specialists on our faculty who would suggest adding a drug and it's side effects to a treatment that's already working well for LMD which is notoriously difficult to treat.
Immunotherapy drugs are too new on the market for anyone to be able to say adding it to a TKI will strengthen efficacy. So far immunotherapy has almost no benefit for those with a sole driver mutation such as an egfr mutation that responds to tarceva.

There are a couple of other studies looking into combining TKIs with immunotherapies but are closed to those with CNS mets.
I'm sorry your husband is in this situation and hope he responds well for a long long time.
