Hi, if a paratrachael lymph node was enlarged due to cancer would you expect it to grow over two years or is it likely to remain constant. The node in question is 16mm, and has been watched but not changed in size since 2015.
Thank you.
Ray.

Hi Ray,

In general, without treatment cancer is expected to grow over time, but it can do anything, and some areas of cancer may not progress even though others do. If this node is the only suspicious location and nothing else has appeared on scans, that's pretty good evidence that it's not cancer.

Hi Jim,

I didn't know if this question had posted, so it was a nice surprise to see that it had and that you found time to reply. I was looking around the site for information, and my takeaway seemed to be that stable or no change is good when dealing with malignancy.
So glad that you are here to help provide guidance.

Ray.

Hi Ray and welcome to Grace.

That's right, if a cancer is curable then you'd hope to get rid of all of it however if the malignancy isn't curable then treatment that stabilizes it is an excellent target. We're happy to help.

All best,
Janine
