Strong nuclear and cytoplasmic positivity for p16

This was part of the pathology report for my poorly differentiated, squamous nsclc.  I was extremely fortunate to have it found as a Stage 1a, but wondered if p16 might be a reason to do further testing for possible use of immunotherapy if/when there is a return?

Thanks.

Hi atrooper,

There is real reason to believe your cancer is completey gone after curitive treatment for stage Ia nsclc so there's no need to add 'when' in your question.  But 'if' the cancer returns immunotherapy would be your leading treatment option so there's no need for further testing.

I hope you do well moving forward with no indications of recurrence.

I joined GRACE as a caregiver for my husband who had a Pancoast tumor, NSCLC stage III in 2009. He had curative chemo/rads then it was believed he had a recurrence in the spine/oligometastasis that was radiated. He's 10 years out from treatment.
