Her condition has drastically changed

Hello, my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer with metastasis to different areas. She is a 50 year old lady (non smoker). Our oncologist at UCSF put her on Tagrisso when she was first diagnosed, in which it has reduced the tumor by a lot in her lung. About 4 months ago, her symptoms, behaviors and body functions have drastically changed and continuously get worse. Our oncologist also doubled her tagrisso dose about a month ago, to ensure treatment. Lately, she has had impaired speech, her motor movement have weakened and has loss of balance.

Is Tagrisso working?

My husband was diagnosed stage 4 NSCLC with EGFR 21 exon L858R in Sept 2022. He started Tagrisso end of Sept 2022. The size of tumor before treatment was 3.4x2.2 cm, Nov 2 CT showed 2.8x2.2 cm, Dec 14 CT showed 2.9 x2.1 cm. He also had large pleural effusion from the beginning without change. Basically no improvement in the past 6 weeks. He felt better than before treatment with minimum symptoms. Is Tagrisso working in his case? We are disappointed that there is no continue shrinkage for the tumor. Do you think adding other treatment such as chemo, to Tagrisso would help ?

Oligoptogression with Alecensa

Hi, my mother was diagnosed with stage IV adenocarcinoma with brain metastases 15 months ago. After all the analyses, it was determined that he has a mutation for which he is suitable to take Alecensa-Alectinib. After the initial use, her condition improved drastically. An intermediate CT scan from more than a month ago shows progression at one point, in the primary tumor. Head metastases are smaller. So, oligoprogression is at one point. We are a little disappointed because we read that Alecensa works for up to 37 months.

Adenocarcinoma with Egfr+ mutation exon 18 & 20

My 81 year old mother was recently diagnosed with stage 4 adenocarcinoma with metastasis to her spine along with a malignant pleural effusion (no other organ involvement and negative for brain meta sis). Prior to this she had been suffering from rheumatoid arthritis and was taking Embrel, a biologic, which her physicians suspect may have contributed to the cancer (she never smoked a day in her life).

Transition from Tarceva to Tagrisso Chemotherapy

Hi everyone, my father has been diagnosed with Stage IV NSCLC in 2013 with metastasis to the pelvic region. The biopsy at the time revealed tumor cells positive for CK7 and TTF-1 and negative for CK20. EGFR gene analysis revealed 2 mutations on exon 19. The bone lesion was permeative destructive centered along the right acetabulum, resulting in severe pain and significant in mobility issues.

Mom was in decent health prior with no oxygen requirement and some health issues related to emphysema/COPD, as well as hemochromatosis. 50 year history of smoking ciggarettes and stopped 3/4/2022. Social drinking only.

Transferred to Shands UF Gainesville same date and has been inpatient to date.
