Do patients typically go home after placement of a bronchial stent, or would they be admitted?

I think they'd often go home later the same day or the following day, barring complications. It would also depend on how sick the patient is -- there's always room for some judgment. The fact that these stents are put into people who often have a lot going on means that they may need to be in the hospital because of all of the other things going on, leading to the need for the stent.

Good luck.

I was at the tail end of pneumonia and really thought I deserved tea and toast. So I was quite indignant at being sent home the following day.
They gave me carbocisteine to thin the mucus ( as Mucodyne- I gather from the ever-informative Dr Walko that this is not used in the US though I have found it very helpful), plus saline nebs to keep the airway moist. When I said "Is there anything I can do to help myself?" they said "no" (I love my country!), then "Exercise".
I know you aren't keen on a stent, but as you know I'm fond of mine! Xx
