It sounds like it may be appropriate to more completely diagnose and stage this, presuming it's cancer, and then consider what options there are. This would involve a biopsy of the growing nodule, probably more scans to determine if it's isolated or more advanced, and whether it's reasonable to do any form of treatment, if that's desired. It sounds like he's debilitated enough that he may not be a strong candidate for chemo, but if it's an isolated, early stage cancer, it's possible that he could undergo radiation, for instance, which is often very well tolerated, and may even turn around from that. It's not something we could expect, but I've got a patient who received radiation to a chest lesion and then had a significant turnaround in his more global, systemic symptoms like energy level, appetite, etc. So I think it's reasonable to see an oncologist if this is confirmed as cancer. They may recommend against any treatment, but it's still fair to ask the question.

Good luck.

All best to your father.

Actually, Gerson therapy has no proven benefit in appropriate clinical trials and is not an approach that any lung cancer specialist that I know of advocates in any way.
