Lung Cancer (adenocarcinoma) in women and the role of estrogen - 1255605

I have been reading a lot about the role estrogen is suspected to play in lung cancer (especially adenocarcinoma) in women. Personally, I was 43 years old, female and a never smoker when I was diagnosed with lc, stage IIIA.

Like most of us that have been dealt the black sheep of the cancer world, I try to keep abreast of any new developments that may aid in the extension of our lives.

Is there any chance that women like me (premenopausal) will be given drugs like tamoxifen like the breast cancer ladies to help keep our cancer away too?

Why can't we matter too. :(

There are a couple of posts on this very subject, eg:

http://cancergrace.org/lung/2009/12/28/women-tamoxifen-and-lung-cancer/
- but I agree that it would be interesting to hear any updates, especially now that lung cancer researchers are learning more about mutations like BRAF that are more usually associated with breast cancer.

certain spring summarize things as they stand. There's definitely interest in this question, but there's not enough evidence right now to make a blanket recommendation. The research on this is only gaining momentum, but we still don't have evidence from prospective clinical trials, which would likely be required to make real recommendations.

Good luck, and thanks to cs for pointing out the relevant posts.
