I had a true local recurrence in the same breast that had lumpectomy, chemo and rads in 2009. Have now had bmx with DIEP reconstruction. Tumour was 0.9 infiltrating ductal. Triple negative both times. Clean margins, no chest wall involvement. All CT and bone scans clear. Do you have any statistics for me regarding disease free survival or likelihood of metz?

We'll try to get a comment from a breast cancer specialist who works with us.

It's difficult to give you definitive statistics as there aren't large trials looking at this. In terms of the risk of ultimately developing distant metastatic disease, the risk is likely higher with a triple negative tumor, some of which may be because you aren't a candidate for hormonal therapy. In your favor however is the fact that it took your tumor approximately 4 years to recur. There are data to suggest that you could benefit from adjuvant chemotherapy for your local recurrence although the optimal chemotherapy regimen in this situation is unknown and would depend heavily on what you received the first time around.
