Currently in chemo, cisplatin and gemzar.
Thank you

Mom returned to chemo after finding 2 liesons on her liver back in October. Back on to Alimta and she is getting Zometa due to fractures in her spine that were causing her pain.

Scan after 3 infusions shows 1 of the 3 tumors smaller, but the other has grown from nearly undetectable to over 1cm and then there is a new one at about 1 cm. He also sees an additional spot on her cervical spine.

PCI for SCLC with history of ataxia and small seizures - 1268474

Forums

Good Morning, a quick question on your opinion of PCI for someone with a history of ataxia and small seizures, along with slurred speech.

20 years ago I had this for several years, went to Mayo Clinic and was told it was the beginning of MS, that a very small percentage of people acquire. I have not had any problems since 1999, however, now I have SCLC ext. ( no brain mets.) and am scheduled for PCI within the next two weeks, and I have some serious concerns about having it.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

CT Dosage - 1268467

Forums

Hi all,

I have a question about understanding the dosage of CT my radiologist gave.

On 12/2013, I accidentally found a .7 mm nodule in my left lung. and I did another follow up CT on 07/2014, and then 01/2015. I was reassured that all of these CT are low dose CT scan given that I am in the low risk profile.

However, contrast to what I thought they are low dose Chest CT (typically 1.5 mSv), below is the info I found in previous 3 CT scans:

CT date. 12.2013: DLP=569mGycm which calculates to about 9.6 mSv

Hi guys! Here I am again! Wondering if I should go see my pumologist? I feel like I have a whole in my left lung. I have this funny sound that I usually get when I am laying on my right side with my left arm across in front of me. It is usually when I breath in deep. Now today after I got up from a nap and I was walking and I could hear this noise when I would take a deep breath. I am not short of breath! It's weird. I don't like being paranoid! And running to the Dr. Every time something happens! Am due for my next CT March 4th. And will see both Oncologist and Pumologist then.

Bone Metastases in Lung Cancer - 1268453

Forums

My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in July 2014 due the malignant plueral effusion. She's done some immunotheraphy and in October started Alitma. Her plueral effusion dried up in December. A number of her symptoms have gone away. Last week based on her CT scan a bone scan was ordered. There are spots on her pelvis, sacrum and ribs. She currently has no pain. She's been referred for radiation. She is considering not getting radiation because of the potential damage to her blood cells from radiating in the pelvic area.

Survivl statistics for lung cancer - 1268443

I am having a lung biopsy next week for a possible stage 1a nodule (1.8cm x.9cm). The surgeon said that because the nodule is deep and surrounded by blood vessels that I would need a right upper lobe lobectomy but no chemo. Because I am in the medical profession, I've been googling for days. It seems that even if lung cancer is caught at a very early stage, the prognosis for being alive after 5 years is 50%, and decreases rapidly as the stage gets worse. My question is this: Can anyone be cured of lung cancer? Why the five year survival stats?
