BRCA 1 and Breast Cancer and Lung Cancer. - 1271383

Hi

Five years ago my dad passed from lung cancer and 10 months later I was diagnosed with Stage 3 TN Breast cancer. A year after diagnosis I got my genetic test back - positive for BRCA 1 mutation. My dad's mom passed from Ovarian cancer and my mom tested negative for the gene so I had to have had it passed to me from my dad.

Would having a Brca 1 mutation make for me more prone to lung cancer, as I also have asthma. I am just wondering if I there is any merit in requesting tests to monitor my lungs and if yes what tests may be appropriate to request.

Stage 1 NSCLC in both lungs - lobectomies feasible in both lungs? - 1271367

Forums

I had a 2 cm adenocarcinoma removed via a lobectomy of my right upper lobe. There is other "activity" in the form of multiple solid 3 mm nodules in lower left lobe that did light up in a pet scan. My surgeon was not able to biopsy the left lower lobe when he did a bronchoscopy. I just had my first post-surgical follow up with my surgeon and he remarked that he didn't think I was done with him yet because of this left lower lobe and we've scheduled another CT for early November.

Several New Pulmonary Nodules Both Lungs / 6 months - 1271353

Original tumor 3x3x5 cm Cyberknifed 4 yrs 4 months ago LLL. Last PET scan 6 months ago showed two small nodules but no other issues. CT scan last week shows several new poorly nodules in both lungs. The new nodules measuring 5.6 x 4.1 mm, 5.5 x 4.3 mm, 5.6 x 4.1 mm, And two previous nodules slightly enlarging. Additionally it shows Multiple tiny nodules in the right middle and lower lobes.
Would these nodules be considered "fast growing" not having been there 6 months ago? Do lung nodules start out at sizes described above or do they all grow from pin point size?

Hello everybody. I am new to this wonderful community and look forward to a great meeting this Saturday on acquired resistance in lung cancer at the San Francisco Airport Marriott hotel. If anyone else will be in town this Friday October 2, the evening before the conference, and would like to meet over dinner to swap stories, info, and to just get acquainted, perhaps you could RSVP to this thread. Nothing committed of course, just to get an idea of how many people to wait for.

blood level monitoring of cancer markers ????? - 1271321

Forums

Hello, this question might have been asked and answered already but I had difficulties navigating all of the previous questions.

Would it be at all helpful to check blood levels of certain cancer markers parallel to therapy so as to detect resistance before it shows up much later on imaging ?
I know there is a big controversy and some docs do and others don't test.
Could you please tell me the pitfalls of this approach and why do some oncologists seem to monitor patients this way ?

Hello,
I suffer from a light case of psoriasis, chronic fatigue immune dysfunction syndrome and interstitial cystitis.
All at a very low level and I'm very functional.
Will any or all of these conditions prevent me from participating in a immunotherapy trial in the future?
